Ultimately, the siege failed and she lost the ring in the ensuing battle to Alear. ![]() ![]() a Scot! In this case, sweaty sock actually rhymes with jock, which is itself a British slang word for a Scottish person. His sister may be a blister, but he wouldn’t want her dating a sweaty sock, i.e. Sure enough, a true Cockney isn’t biased in his insults. After all, blister also rhymes with mister! If your wife is cows and kisses, and your sister is a skin and blister (often shortened to blister), where does this leave the women in a Cockney’s life? Ladies, maybe it's time to turn the tide. You might sense a theme here of Cockney insults not being especially kind to women. This term is often shortened to just septic, and if you don’t like yanks, then you’re "Listerine," because you're anti-septic! Get it? What a fun play on words! Oh, dear, it seems the Cockneys don't hold Americans in high esteem. Although this baked good is delicious, a Cockney isn't saying you're a yummy treat - quite the opposite! It wouldn’t be nice to liken someone to a raspberry tart. That's their way of saying that they think you've got a few screws loose. If a Cockney tries to talk to you and you don’t answer, they might say you’re a bit radio rental. That means they know what you're saying is a bunch of crap. If a Cockney figures out that you're telling pork pies (lies) rather than the truth, they just might call you on your pony and trap. It's a comment about a foul smell, which just might be coming from you (especially if it immediately follows a raspberry tart). If a Cockney mentions pen and ink, they're not asking to borrow a writing instrument. Instead, chances are they're telling you to shut your mouth. If someone tells you to stop going north and south, they're not referring to the direction you're traveling. And, if you don’t, the best you’ll ever be is a mockney. Nobody likes an imposter, right? There’s no such thing as an honorary Cockney, no matter how good your accent. If someone is being a general pain or a jerk, a Cockney is more likely to refer to the person as a merchant banker rather than a w*nker. Instead, they're making it known that they think you're more than just a bit stupid. If a Cockney calls you King Dick, it's not a compliment. In modern usage, you'll often hear the shortened form in the phrase "he's really getting on my wick" meaning someone's being very annoying. Rather than using the more general slang terms pr*ck or d*ck, a Cockney might describe someone who's being annoying as a Hampton Wick. Someone you can't rely on because of their love of the drink just might be referred to as a no-good elephant's trunk. For as long as the catchphrase “drunk as a skunk” is around, the Cockneys will have one better. Cockney slang offers a variety of ways to insult someone, so, if a Cockney calls you a dental flosser, they're not complimenting your smile. Those Cockney boys sure know how to express their love. Since not too many wives enjoy being likened to a cow, this stereotypical Cockney phrase is definitely a bit of a slur. Alas, cows and kisses refers to the wife. While "bollocks" is a common British slang term for balls (in the context of testicles), Cockney slang uses the phrase cobblers awls to exclaim the same sentiment of "nonsense!" This is sometimes shortened to just "cobblers" and the nonsense can even be as big as "a load of cobblers." It isn't a perfect rhyme, but it works well enough. If someone says "bottle and glass" in your vicinity, they're not asking how you'd like to be served a drink. Berk means idiot, as in "you're being a berk." The full phrase Berkeley (or Berkshire) hunt has been shortened to "berk," which has become a milder slang word of its own. Otherwise, they might be tossing an insult your way. You could take this in one of two ways, so, hopefully, your Cockney mates think you’re the good kind of trouble. "Here comes Barney Rubble,” a Cockney might say. There is no other relationship between a Cockney term and the word it replaces. Cockney sayings are crafted so that they rhyme in some way with the "real" word they're meant to replace. Cockney slang insults are fun and unique phrases, but they won't make sense if you don't have a basic understanding of how they're formed. ![]() In Canada, meanwhile, the government has revised passenger rights legislation and placed more burden on airlines, “irrespective of the root cause of disruptions and delays”, IATA says. ![]() “This double whammy of poor planning is exceptionally disappointing,” he adds. The 5G roll-out in other parts of the world has not required anything like this of airlines.” “Poor ATC performance comes on top of the FAA and DOT requiring airlines to invest over $630 million to upgrade or replace fully certified onboard avionics equipment on thousands of aircraft to mitigate the risks of 5G roll-out near airports,” Walsh adds. That means the majority of control centres across the nation – including busy facilities overseeing Miami, Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta and Chicago – are operating with far fewer controllers than nominally necessary. The report notes that in March 2022, 20 of 26 critical ATC facilities – more than two-thirds – were staffed below an 85% staffing threshold agreed to by the FAA and air traffic controller union NATCA in 2014. ![]() “The recent report… makes clear that the FAA has allowed the controller workforce to shrink to the point where it is challenged to maintain continuity of operations at the country’s most-critical air traffic control facilities,” Walsh says. As a result, airlines and passengers have experienced thousands of delays and cancellations. IATA slams US and Canadian aviation regulators for air traffic control chaosĪ recent report from the US Department of Transportation’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) concluded that the FAA’s current air traffic controller shortage is a risk that must be addressed promptly. The report, published on 21 June, said the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the regulator’s ability to maintain ”the required number of controllers” at numerous US facilities.
There is no firmware updates for the locks, they are as they ship sadly. I believe the Wink Hub 2 connection to the Schlage was secure/encrypted from my research. ![]() Then joined to the Hubitat new via the process they defined for the join. Yep, the lock was reset to factory defaults. Was there maybe a setting that has to be set in the lock, that perhaps you forgot about because you’ve had the lock for so long? U reset the lock to join it to a Hubitat correct? That would be a change from before. I’m not saying any one thing here is the cause, but you’re going to need to establish a baseline with all the manufacturers recommendations first or you may not ever find the issue. Others have this lock and don’t report this issue, so you’re going to need to figure out what’s different about your installation.Īny way to move that repeater in between the lock and the hub, instead of closest to the lock? That should include another exclude, then factory reset with Alkaline batteries installed. You really can’t get to the bottom of the issue unless you take the lock back to the manufacturer’s stated baseline. How about battery level reporting, how often is it occurring in the log? Maybe there’s an issue that wasn’t found with the lock previously if it wasn’t securely joined before? Is its firmware up to date? What about how it joined? Is it joining Securely now, and perhaps it wasn’t before? The radio has to transmit 3x when paired securely. You reset the lock to join it to a Hubitat correct? That would be a change from before. I am also noticing a few other Zwave devices like leak sensors draining at a rate higher than I've seen before? When I moved from Wink to Hubitat, I did a proper exclusion, and then joined it to the Hubitat Zwave network. I've never had that happen in 3 years with Wink. Twice now in 1 month (once with teh same batteries that ran the lock for 6 months already and now one with new batteries) the lock just shut down and wouldnt respond cause of low power. ![]() What can I do to fix this? Whats the issue here? I enabled Debug Logging to see what the heck is going on, but I am pretty concerned. I was getting 6 - 8 months of battery minimum on this lock with Wink. I've run Zwave Repair as I update and change devices. The hubitat hub itself is about 30ft or so a couple floors up. There is a Zwave Pro light switch (GE) located right next to it like 12 inches away. I was tied to Wink for years, and I switch to Hubitat. So I have a BE469 that works as well as can be expected, it has FW 7.1 on it. But all in all, these methods greatly simplify the entire process and eliminate the need for paid or full-fledged image editor programs. This is probably due to factors like compression and metadata contained in the file. Of course, there are differences in how these methods work, and therefore, you may notice a difference in the file size of the images you convert using these methods. And depending on how you wish to do it, you can pick your preferred method from the ones listed above to convert images to JPG. It’s fairly easy to convert WebP images to JPG on Mac. If prompted to select the save location, choose one and hit OK.Ĭonverting WebP Images to JPG Is Easier Than You Think
![]() Not every mission is a winner, but even when the execution is a bit off, there's usually still an interesting hook or twist, or even just an unusual map layout, that makes it memorable. There are multiple paths, plot twists and some elaborate set pieces, and they generally strike a good balance between a bespoke, directed experience and a sandbox. Mission intros and outros do all the exposition, but there are plenty of narrative moments and scripted sequences within the missions themselves. Age of Empires 2 already has more civilisations and missions than anyone could be reasonably expected to play while still eating and sleeping, but the promise of New Content is, as ever, seductive.Įach campaign takes a crack at spinning a historical yarn through the deeds of a specific historical figure, as is traditional for the series. ![]() With Scotland behind me, I could start working my way through the brand new campaigns, collectively known as the The Last Khans. While the challenge missions aren't essential, they'll make you a more efficient player and better prepare you for games beyond the campaigns. ![]() Despite my nostalgic affection for the William Wallace campaign, it only teaches the basics, hiding a lot of Age of Empires 2's depth from new players. As well as the campaign tutorial, the Definitive Edition also includes some further education in the form of challenge missions. All the old campaigns, as well as benefiting from the art overhaul, have new audio, dialogue and updated missions, but if you've played them before, you should find them very familiar. For old time's sake, I had to play the William Wallace tutorial campaign first. Combat doesn't exist in a vacuum, however, and still benefits from the improvements orbiting it.Īll 27 campaigns are available from the get go, so it can be tricky to know where to begin. When you've got flashy new 4K art everywhere, a reworked UI and more refined controls, the messiness and lack of clarity in fights can be a bit jarring. Even if that wasn't the case, changes to the core of the game aren't what you'd expect in the Definitive Edition, but in other places the alterations are surprisingly significant and meaningful, making the gaps more noticeable. Microsoft and developer Forgotten Empires have been clear about their intent to eschew big changes to the combat, citing feedback from the Age of Empires community. As chaotic as combat can get, sieges and big confrontations still require plenty of planning. They need troops to escort them and fight off the AI-which does seem to do a pretty good job of prioritising targets even on the standard difficulty-and safe positions to begin an assault from. Siege engines are expensive, slow and fall apart as soon as the enemy looks in their direction. Assaulting a walled city is a massive investment in gold and manpower, and a bit of a logistical conundrum. One of the best additions of the original Age of Empires 2 was proper fortifications and the accompanying sieges. You've either got to micromanage the lot of them or leave them to it and just hope that you've sent in the right units to counter your opponent.īattles amount to more than throwing a heaving mass of warriors at your adversaries, though, especially if they're hiding behind some walls. Units run around desperately trying to get to the nearest enemy, or the one you selected, frequently having to adjust as gaps close. Melee brawls are brisk and, even with the new and otherwise helpful zoom feature, it can still be hard to decipher what's going on in the scrum itself-it's just a lot of shrinking health bars-so committing your force can feel a bit like giving up control. Across the campaigns and skirmishes, this familiar routine is repeated, tweaked and sometimes subverted, but while Age of Empires 2's current curators have updated a lot around it, the moment-to-moment civilisation and army management has been preserved. You start with a town centre and a handful of villagers, gather resources, plonk down buildings and expand until you've got a big army and an impressive fortified city. Those are two areas where it's largely business as usual. The result is a more consistent pace that leaves you with extra time to spend expanding your civilisation and commanding armies. Queuing up different units and upgrades, being able to drag and select armies without grabbing villagers by mistake, queuing commands-most of what I wished the first Age of Empires: Definitive Edition included has been introduced here. Quality of life improvements might not sound like much of a headline attraction, but Age of Empires 2 needed them just as much as the new campaigns and the visual overhaul. ![]() While DoCast offers a seamless experience, the free version only allows 15 minutes of screen mirroring.
